FREE* Dialup Internet Access

Yes that's right, FREE* Dialup Internet Access! If you're a home user who wants to pick up occasional emails, or browse the web infrequently, then this is for you!

  • No committment
  • No Monthly Fee
  • No connection charge
  • 'Pay as you go' surfing
  • All you pay is one lo-cal call rate**.

**Lo-call is great for occasional Internet access and available from any telephone network. Whether you need to go online for a few minutes during the day or a few hours at weekends, you will only pay for the time you actually use. If you need access via any telephone network, or if you're new to the Internet, local-rate access is a great way to get online. Lo-call will provide you with a dial-up connection through a local-rate phone number (0845), there are no monthly fees or set-up costs. This service is extremely popular because there is no financial or contractual commitment to us. You log on to the Internet, surf for as long as you like, and pay for a local phone call when your phone bill arrives. Many broadband and subscription users still keep a free ISP number configured on their computer, should their main access to the Internet fail temporarily.

Can I use my normal phone line?

Dial-up Internet access uses your  telephone line and a modem to connect to the Internet. A modem changes the signal coming from your computer into a data signal that can be used to communicate between your home computer and our servers. The modems are limited to the amount of data they can send and receive by the size of the telephone line. Telephone lines are not designed to carry large amounts of data, and have a relatively low 'bandwidth', hence, line speeds rarely exceed 56Kbps.

Dialup services like these are limited as you cannot use your telephone at the same time as you are logged on to the Internet (if your modem uses the same telephone line). This is because your computer is making a phone call and consequently your phone line is engaged.

Is dial-up Internet access fast enough?

Dial-up services are using the low bandwidth line that is designed to carry voice signals, hence line speeds are often low, and 56Kbps is often the maximum speed available. This may be less in rural or remote areas, or where conventional telephone lines are not underground.

If you want fast internet access then Lulworth Online's ADSL Broadband is the solution for you.
